What is a good steward?

A steward is defined in the Bible dictionary as: A man/woman employed to manage and be responsible for the care of the property or business affairs of another.  In Scripture, there a a number of references that speak directly or indirectly about God’s ownership of everything.  One of these Scripture texts says, “Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it.” ~ Deuteronomy 10:14.  You and I, therefore, have been given the awesome responsibility of managing God’s property and affairs, which include, but are not limited to, our time, talents, finances and bodies.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Malachi 3:10
